Durham aim to maintain momentum
Durham will seek to build on an encouraging win double when they host fellow strugglers Surrey in the LV= County Championship.
Paul Collingwood’s side are currently rooted to the foot of Division One, but secured a first victory of the season against Middlesex at the end of last month before defeating Australia A in a three-day fixture.
Ian Blackwell claimed seven second-innings wickets in the latter match to follow up a 63-ball 62 with the bat, yet the all-rounder continues to miss out on a place in Durham’s championship team.
Former South Africa Under-19 skipper Keaton Jennings is set to make his first-class debut after being named in a 12-man squad, which also includes England paceman Graham Onions.
Surrey are without seamer Stuart Meaker, who is on England Lions duty, and captain Rory Hamilton-Brown will not feature, despite making his return from compassionate leave in Wednesday’s Clydesdale Bank 40 victory over Nottinghamshire.
The match-winner in that game, Matthew Spriegel, has been included in Surrey’s squad.
Two sides in title contention meet at Taunton as Somerset, who sit fourth, take on second-placed Nottinghamshire - the only unbeaten team in Division One.
With leaders Warwickshire not starting their home game against Worcestershire until Wednesday, both teams will be keen to crank up the pressure with a strong first-day performance.
