Liam Norwell has added to Gloucestershire’s growing injury list ahead of their LV= County Championship Division Two clash with Leicestershire.

The paceman strained his groin against Northamptonshire and will subsequently miss the clash at Grace Road, which gets under way tomorrow.

Ramnaresh Sarwan

Leicestershire will be bolstered by the return of skipper Ramnaresh Sarwan when they take on Gloucestershire at Grace Road tomorrow

He joins Ian Saxelby (shoulder), Paul Muchall (knee) and James Fuller (broken finger) on the sidelines, although Benny Howell should play despite hurting his hand last time out.

Craig Miles, who was 12th man against Northants, could replace Norwell if Gloucestershire opt for a seamer, while Ed Young is in the squad as an extra spin option.

Skipper Michael Klinger said: “Luck has certainly been against us as far as injuries are concerned and to find ourselves quite a few players down already is frustrating."

“Liam hurt his groin bowling in the first innings against Northants. We don't think it is too bad, but it something we need to monitor.

“It's never ideal to have key players injured, but it means a chance for others to show what they can do.”

Ramnaresh Sarwan, Niall O’Brien and Ollie Freckingham will feature for Leicestershire, who are shorn of Matthew Hoggard, Anthony Ireland and Nathan Buck.

Sarwan, O’Brien and Freckingham missed the disappointing first-class loss to Leeds-Bradford MCCU last week, but will return against Gloucestershire.
