Andrew Strauss, who hit 151 first up against the Sri Lankans, is set to continue his npower Test series preparation versus Middlesex at Lord's

England Test captain Andrew Strauss is set to make his first LV= County Championship appearance of the year in Middlesex’s Division Two clash with Glamorgan at Lord’s, starting tomorrow.

The opener impressed on his season debut with 151 on Saturday in the first innings versus the Sri Lankans at Uxbridge, having rested since England’s World Cup campaign.

Middlesex are without Strauss’ England team-mates Eoin Morgan and Steven Finn, who have been named in the England Lions squad to face the Sri Lankans in a four-day tour game at Derby, which also gets underway tomorrow.

All-rounder Steven Crook, who has been suffering with a side strain, is also absent from Middlesex’s 13-man squad.

Glamorgan could name the side that beat Kent by an innings and eight runs last week.

However, they may recall Robert Croft, Nick James or Chris Ashling - who make up a 14-strong party.

Veteran off-spinner Croft impressed in Sunday’s Clydesdale Bank 40 victory over Gloucestershire when his eight overs cost just 22 runs.

Seamer Huw Waters, who has been sidelined by back trouble, is again missing from Glamorgan's squad.

Victory for second-placed Middlesex will see them return to the top of the table but Glamorgan, currently in third, can leap-frog their opponents with a win.
