Middlesex wait on Vaas

Sri Lanka seamer Chaminda Vaas will be given a fitness test on Tuesday morning but is expected to play for Middlesex against Glamorgan at Lord’s in LV County Championship Division Two.

Though Vaas has a stiff back and missed the fixture with Leicestershire, he should be fit for the four-day game.

England A batsman Nick Compton and former England seamer Chris Silverwood are also selected in the 12-man squad, but Andrew Strauss is on England duty.

Glamorgan have recalled batsman Dan Cherry, who comes into the squad with Ben Wright and James Harris away on England Under-19 duty in preparation for the first Test with Pakistan at Scarborough.

Cherry is added to the remaining 12 who were on duty at Abergavenny for the washed out match against Leicestershire.

England seamer Simon Jones is again included as he continues his recovery from knee surgery.
