Nottinghamshire will wait until after their clash with Middlesex in the NatWest Pro40 before naming their squad for Wednesday’s match with the same opposition in the Liverpool Victoria County Championship.

Wicket-keeper Chris Read will not play because he is involved with England and David Alleyne will be behind the stumps.

Seamer Greg Smith has been told he will not have his contract renewed at the end of the season but he may also feature.

Likewise Middlesex opted to leave a final decision on their team to face Nottinghamshire until after Tuesday's match.

Ben Hutton was sure to lead the side, however, with former Yorkshire seamer Chris Silverwood set to continue after taking his 50th wicket of the season last week against his former county.

Paul Weekes was also certain to play after his 128 not out in the same Scarborough match, a turnaround in his fortunes having sought a loan spell at another county earlier in the season.
