Watch highlights of day one as Northamptonshire entertained Leicestershire at Wantage Road

Division Two leaders Northamptonshire did not fare too well as their LV= County Championship Division Two clash with Leicestershire began on a day when captain Stephen Peters was ruled out for up to six weeks.

Peters broke his finger during a morning net session and was replaced in the side by 21-year-old Rob Keogh.

Keogh had been due to appear for the club's second XI against Somerset in Taunton Vale before he was summoned back to Northampton for just his second championship match.

In the 34 overs that were possible on a day marred by rain breaks, Northants were reduced to 91 four four at the close thanks to some loose shots by their top order.

Leicestershire will be pushing to capitalise on their position tomorrow with paceman Ollie Freckingham looking to add to his 2-34.

The visitors, having won the toss, made a breakthrough soon after play began when James Middlebrook sliced Freckingham to Jigar Naik at gully .

While Middlebrook was trudging back to the pavilion, the heavens opened once more, leaving the players with another sprint for shelter after another 22 deliveries had been bowled.

Proceedings recommenced at 4:45pm and Northants soon lost David Sales cheaply for 10 when he was taken by Naik at gully off Alex Wyatt.

Leicestershire brought on Robbie Williams in the 17th over and he claimed the wicket of Matthew Spriegel, who chipped to Matthew Boyce at square-leg .

Stand-in captain Alex Wakely made 18 before he was next back in the pavilion, dragging Freckingham on to off stump.

Rob Newton and former South Africa international Andrew Hall were able to see out the remaining 10 overs and will resume tomorrow on 22 and 12 respectively.
