Monty Panesar is set to face Middlesex at Lord's after his release by England

Northamptonshire have England left-arm spinner Monty Panesar available again for their LV= County Championship Division Two trip to Lord’s to face Middlesex.

Panesar was part of England’s squad for the third npower Ashes Test but was released ahead of the game as the hosts opted against playing two specialist spinners.

Northants, who were due to play their Twenty20 Cup quarter-final against Hampshire at Wantage Road today, could recall seam bowler Lee Daggett following a thumb injury.

Panesar and Dagett could be among a number of changes from the young side that lost to Australia in last week’s tour match.

Middlesex begin life without former first-team coach Toby Radford, who resigned last week, by welcoming back left-arm spinner Murali Kartik and wicketkeeper Ben Scott.

Scott replaces David Nash from the side that drew with Derbyshire last time out while Kartik is also set to feature.
