England batsman Marcus Trescothick is set to return to LV County Championship action for Somerset in the Division Two clash against Derbyshire, which has been moved from Chesterfield to Derby.
Trescothick looks to have recovered from the thigh injury he sustained against Northamptonshire and kept him out of the leaders’ draw with Essex.
Should the left-hander return, Matthew Wood or Neil Edwards will make way at the top of the order in the only potential change from the match which finished with a washout on Monday.
The game has been switched from Chesterfield because the ground there is waterlogged after recent heavy rain.
Wicket-keeper James Pipe returns to action for the hosts.
Pipe has recovered from a groin strain and replaces youngster Tom Poynton, while Ireland fast bowler Boyd Rankin is also close to a comeback.
Derbyshire physio Kate Stalker said of Pipe: “He has worked extremely hard at his rehabilitation and deserves to be ready to play this game.
“Boyd Rankin is also much improved after his stress fracture and we should see him back shortly, he is currently just working on his bowling fitness.”
Seventeen-year-old batsman Dan Redfern will hope to keep his place in the side after replacing Phil Weston in the drawn match against Glamorgan.
