Rana set for first championship action
Rana Naved-ul-Hasan will make his long-awaited first LV= County Championship appearance of the season at Edgbaston where Warwickshire play Yorkshire.
The 31-year-old Pakistan all-rounder did not appear at Headingley Carnegie until May 1 owing to problems with his visa, but he is named in a 13-man squad. Rana made a quickfire 49 as Yorkshire lost a rain-affected Friends Provident Trophy game to Surrey on Monday.
Gerard Brophy also returns after a hand injury kept the wicketkeeper-batsman out of the weekend’s Trophy matches.
Tim Bresnan is absent with England in the run-up to the first npower Test, but Adil Rashid returns to the party from England Lions duty.
Lee Hodgson (ankle) and Ben Sanderson (shoulder) remain sidelined.
Yorkshire have named an enlarged 14-man squad to provide cover for the trip to Gloucestershire on Sunday.
Warwickshire continue to be beset by injury blows with former captain Darren Maddy likely to be out for nine months.
The 34-year-old batsman suffered cruciate knee ligament damage training this week.
New skipper Ian Westwood returns from his wrist injury to lead Warwickshire in the championship for the first time this season. His entrance at the top of the order means another new partner for Tony Frost.
Ian Bell, Jonathan Trott and Chris Woakes return from England Lions duty at Derby, and Ant Botha is named in the 12-man squad despite continual elbow problems.
Seamer Andrew Miller (side) is set for six weeks out.
