England seamer Simon Jones is set to play his first competitive match for Worcestershire in their LV County Championship Division Two clash with Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

Jones rejected a performance-related deal with Glamorgan and moved to New Road on a two-year contract over the winter following prolonged knee and ankle problems.

Worcestershire also include new Australian signing Steve Magoffin, who was recently named Western Australia players' player of the year.

The 29-year-old pacemen took 35 wickets at 25.48 in the Pura Cup and in the one-day game he claimed 14 at 27.21 apiece.

Former Somerset seamer Gareth Andrew is also named in the 12-man squad.

Ireland seamer Boyd Rankin is set to make his championship debut for Warwickshire after moving from Derbyshire.

Rankin, who impressed for his country during the 2007 World Cup in the Carribean, has been named in a 12-man squad that is led by Darren Maddy fresh from hitting an unbeaten 118 against Worcestershire in a pre-season friendly.

Tony Frost will keep wicket having been persuaded to return to the playing staff after taking up a job as a trainee groundsman at Edgbaston in 2006, following 13 years with the county. England wicketkeeper Tim Ambrose is not available until April 20.

Warwickshire are without Monde Zondeki, who is still with South Africa, and the injured Jimmy Anyon, Ian Salisbury and Naqaash Tahir.

Anyon has torn a muscle in his right forearm and Tahir is suffering from shin splints, while Salisbury has a shoulder problem.
