Nottinghamshire took charge of their top-of-the-table LV County Championship clash with Somerset on a rain-hit first day at Trent Bridge.
The day began badly for the visitors as Charlie Shreck removed Justin Langer with the first ball of the match and they had only limped to 143 for seven at the close.
Marcus Trescothick (35) and Craig Kieswetter (39) offered some resistance but both fell to all-rounder Andre Adams (2-33). Shreck claimed 2-37 and Darren Pattinson 3-51.
Title hopefuls Durham reached 142 for three on a shortened day against Lancashire at the Riverside.
Openers Michael Di Venuto and Mark Stoneman were both run out while Shivnarine Chanderpaul was trapped lbw by Tom Smith for a duck.
Will Smith was unbeaten on 59 with captain Dale Benkenstein 21 not out when the weather halted play.
Sussex were 203 for four against Yorkshire at Scarborough. Andrew Hodd was 66no at the close after putting on 101 for the second wicket with Chris Nash (78).
Steven Patterson took two wickets for Yorkshire but is now set to be replaced in the side for the remainder of the game by Tim Bresnan, who was released from England duty earlier in the day.
In the Second Division, Worcestershire claimed a first-innings lead of 88 in their promotion clash with Warwickshire at New Road after Chris Whelan took 4-66.
Imran Arif also took three wickets as Warwickshire were bowled out for 251 with Jonathan Trott left stranded on 88no.
Worcestershire were earlier bowled out for 339 with Vikram Solanki making 91, Gareth Batty 60no and Neil Carter taking 6-100. The hosts were 45 for one in their second innings at stumps.
Robert Croft hit his first half-century of the season as struggling Glamorgan posted 348 in the their first innings against Derbyshire at the County Ground.
The former England spinner finished unbeaten on 89 after the Welsh side added 91 to their overnight score.
Adam Shantry then struck twice as Derbyshire reached 82 for two before a storm ended play for the day prematurely.
Alan Richardson took 5-34 at Lord’s as Gloucestershire were bowled out for 218 by Middlesex, David Brown top-scoring with 68.
Middlesex were 106 for one at the close with Billy Godleman unbeaten on 40 after putting on 77 with England opener Andrew Strauss (43).
