Michael Vaughan managed just 19 as Yorkshire slipped to a perilous 133 for seven

Former England captain Michael Vaughan missed out again as relegation-threatened Yorkshire endured a difficult day in their LV County Championship Division One clash with Sussex.

Vaughan is hoping to win back his England place for the winter tour of India but now has only five more first-class innings to impress after making just 19 at Scarborough.

His team-mates also struggled as Yorkshire closed on 133 for seven - 132 behind the visitors - after Jason Lewry took 3-27.

Sussex were earlier bowled out for 265 with Andrew Hodd top-scoring with 81. Adil Rashid was the pick of the bowlers with 4-56.

The top-of-the-table clash between Nottinghamshire and Somerset at Trent Bridge saw little play due to the weather.

Peter Trego hit 86 as Somerset’s final three wickets added 109 to their overnight score before being bowled out for 252.

Nottinghamshire reached 46 for two in reply after Charl Willoughby struck twice in an over.

Lancashire were unable to take a Durham wicket on another day of restricted action at the Riverside.

Billy Godleman’s 106 helped Middlesex claim a first-innings lead over Gloucestershire at Lord’s, despite the efforts of Jon Lewis.

Dawid Malan hit 50 and Shaun Udal was 32 not out as Middlesex closed on 313 for seven, 95 ahead.

Former England seamer Lewis was the major thorn in the Middlesex side, claiming 5-64.
