Rain ruined the final day of the LV= County Championship programme, with all eight games abandoned before the afternoon session.

Surrey against Durham and Gloucestershire versus Glamorgan ended without a ball being bowled after four days of inclement weather at the Kia Oval and County Ground respectively.

In Division One, Somerset's meeting with Lancashire, Worcestershire's versus Nottinghamshire and Sussex’s against Warwickshire followed the same route as that taken at the Oval, albeit with play having been possible in earlier days.

That was also the story in Division Two, where Essex against Northamptonshire and Kent versus Yorkshire also fell foul of the weather.

There was hope Hampshire’s clash with Leicestershire at the Ageas Bowl might see some action today, but that too was called off shortly after 1pm.

Kia Oval rain

A familiar sight for all county grounds this morning, with all eight LV= County Championship matches seeing no action on the final day due to rain
