Dawson set for debut
Spinner Liam Dawson is set to become Hampshire's youngest post-war county championship debutant if he takes his place in the side to face Surrey in Division One.
The 17-year-old played for the Hampshire Hawks' NatWest Pro40 side against the Warwickshire Bears on Wednesday night after his encouraging debut at Northampton on Monday.
Dawson hit 31 from 32 balls in the defeat to Northamptonshire Steelbacks and he has also featured in the recent England Under-19 series with Pakistan.
He would have been in contention to play against Lancashire last week but he was on under-19 duty, while former England spinner Shaun Udal is likely to replace captain Shane Warne (rib) in the side that drew against Lancashire.
Dimitri Mascarenhas, Kevin Pietersen and Chris Tremlett are all on England duty.
Surrey have a fully-fit squad to choose from.
Last week`s match against Sussex was washed out but England Lions spinner Chris Schofield is back in contention having missed their last completed game - a draw with Durham - while Ali Brown drops out.
Loughborough University student Matt Spriegel, who is on a summer contract at the club, is also named in a 13-man travelling party, along with former Sussex seamer Mohammad Akram.
