Marcus Trescothick has shrugged off an Achilles injury to be named in Somerset’s side to face reigning county champions Sussex in the Division One clash at Taunton.
The former England batsman sustained the problem in Sunday’s Friends Provident Trophy defeat to Gloucestershire but is available to continue following his 151 in last week’s championship draw with Hampshire.
Veteran seamer Andrew Caddick is not ready to return, although he has been given the all-clear to begin bowling again following a neck injury suffered during a pre-season match.
In Caddick’s continued absence, Somerset are set to name an unchanged championship side with fast bowler Mark Turner 12th man.
West Indies seamer Corey Collymore is set to make his championship debut for Sussex.
Collymore, who qualifies as a Kolpak player, was signed to replace Australian Ryan Harris, who left on the eve of the season.
He is part of a 13-man squad which does not include leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed, who is still missing after undergoing knee surgery.
