Rain rules at the Oval

A sorry scene today at the Kia Oval, where no action was possible between hosts Surrey and Durham in the LV= County Championship
No play was possible on the first day of Surrey’s LV= County Championship Division One game against Durham at the Kia Oval.
It was decided well before the scheduled start that there could be no play until after lunch but, with frequent heavy showers falling, all hope was abandoned in early afternoon.
Durham had not played a championship match in London for five years until last week, when they also suffered a first-day washout against Middlesex at Lord’s.
On the same day Surrey had an identical fate against Worcestershire at the Oval.
