Surrey and Lancashire left frustrated
No play was possible on the final day of Surrey and Lancashire’s LV= County Championship Division One clash at Guildford, which ended in a draw with the hosts taking 10 points to the visitors eight.
Due to heavy overnight rain, umpires Peter Hartley and Neil Mallender initially put the start back to 1:10pm.
But the showers returned and it continued to rain on and off until 12:45pm, when it was decided there was no prospect of getting any play.
As a result, both sides remain just above the relegation zone, with one victory apiece, ahead of Worcestershire and Durham, who are still to break their duck.
It has not helped that Lancashire have now lost almost 74 hours’ play in their defence of the championship this season and Surrey more than 65 hours.
