Brown left to rue rain
Ben Brown was left frustratingly short of his century as rain ruined the final day of Sussex's LV= County Championship Division One match with champions Warwickshire.
Brown could not add to his overnight score of 82 as only 15 balls were possible on the final day because of rain and bad light. The hosts closed on 421 for seven in response to Warwickshire's 453 with both sides taking eight points in a draw.
Sussex added five runs in the brief passage of play that was possible before rain forced the players off. Umpires George Sharp and Neil Mallender decided that play could get under way again at 2pm but, when the inclement weather returned, proceedings were abandoned 30 minutes later.
Brown's third half-century in four innings contained seven fours and came off 149 balls but a desperately slow pitch and some accurate bowling undermined both teams’ efforts to force victory.
