Washout buys Doshi time
Former Surrey left-arm spinner Nayan Doshi was the only beneficiary of a second successive washed out day in Warwickshire's LV County Championship match against Kent at Edgbaston.
Doshi, who was released by Surrey last month, is hoping to join Warwickshire for the remainder of this season and the whole of next, but the county are still awaiting the relevant paperwork.
“We need Surrey to positively and explicitly accept rather than to passively not disagree,” said Warwickshire's chief executive Colin Povey.
Despite attempts by the Edgbaston groundstaff to mop up after morning downpours, the rain returned after lunch and umpires Allan Jones and Graham Burgess abandoned play at 3pm.
It was Warwickshire's seventh complete washout in the last nine scheduled days of first-class cricket at Edgbaston.
