Kabir misses out for Worcestershire
Worcestershire paceman Kabir Ali has been ruled out of tomorrow's LV= County Championship clash with Somerset.
Kabir has now been sidelined for the past fortnight with a back strain, but was hopeful of making a return to first-class action and was named in the initial 12-man squad for the match at New Road.
However, the injury has persisted and Richard Jones will step into the staring line-up, as will Gareth Andrew who will replace the injured Australian all-rounder Ashley Noffke, leaving Worcestershire with an inexperienced bowling attack.
Somerset are expected to field the same side that drew with Hampshire in their previous championship match.
Leaders Durham now have a 36-point advantage at the top of the table, with director of cricket Brian Rose adamant his side need to pick up maximum points.
“It`s a match we have to look to win, although it certainly won`t be easy,” Rose told the club`s official website.
“The good thing is that Worcestershire themselves are desperate for a victory so I would expect a result pitch.
“I would think that the wicket will assist seam rather than spin because that is Worcestershire's strength. But it would also suit us.”
