Vaughan out of Somerset clash

Michael Vaughan

Michael Vaughan will sit out Yorkshire's game with Somserset with a sore knee

Yorkshire are missing batsman Michael Vaughan but are set to welcome back seamer Matthew Hoggard for the visit of Somerset to Headingley Carnegie in Division One of the LV= County Championship.

Former England captain Vaughan left the field with a sore knee yesterday against Sussex and is rested following a run of appearances for the White Rose. Youngster Jonathan Bairstow is called into a 13-man squad in Vaughan’s place.

Hoggard looks set to return to action after illness prevented him playing against Sussex and Azeem Rafiq retains his place in the squad after an impressive first-class debut.

Yorkshire are again without leg-spinning all-rounder Adil Rashid who is on ICC World Twenty20 duty with England.

Somerset could name an unchanged line-up after including the XI that drew with Lancashire yesterday in a 13-strong squad.

That means they will again be without veteran paceman Andy Caddick who stepped up his recovery from a back injury by playing for Wiltshire this week.

He took five wickets in the match against Wales but was never likely to feature for Somerset this week given the minor counties game finished yesterday.
