Matt Mason has agreed a new deal with Worcestershire

Matt Mason has signed a contract extension which will keep him at Worcestershire until the end of the 2008 season. This represents a two-year extension to his existing contract.

Head Coach, Steve Rhodes, was delighted to guarantee the future of one of the county's frontline bowlers, and said: "Matt is a 50 wicket a season bowler and there are very few of those in County cricket so it is important that we have secured his future.

"He is a very popular player on and off the field and is an integral part of our plans over the next few years."

Mason added: "Since arriving in England in 2002, I have relished the opportunity to play first class cricket with Worcestershire.

"This winter I should become qualified to play for England so there is still so much to play for.

"I am delighted to secure my future here and look forward to working with Steve and Vikram (Solanki) in the years ahead."
