Kent have chosen Peter Morgan, who has been a member of the county for more than 50 years, as their new president for 2008.

After graduating from Oxford University with an honours degree in law, he became a partner with Girlings solicitors and is now vice-chairman.

He is also one of Her Majesty's Recorders sitting as a judge in the Crown Court.

Morgan said: “I am honoured to have been asked to become the club’s president for 2008 and excited about the team's prospects.

“I was most impressed by the talent and character of the current squad this year. They have the potential to do even better.”

Outgoing president George Kennedy said: “I am delighted that Peter has agreed to become Kent’s president next year.

“He is a lifelong member of Kent cricket as well as having been a much-trusted adviser to the club over many years.

“I am sure the club will derive much benefit from his wide experience and I look forward to introducing him as my successor at the annual general meeting."
