Rain no use to struggling sides

NatWest Pro40

Andrew Gale

Andrew Gale was denied the chance to build on his 23 opening for Yorkshire in the abandoned match at Trent Bridge

Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire shared the points after heavy rain at Trent Bridge forced the abandonment of their NatWest Pro40 meeting.

Only 13.1 overs were possible before the bad weather forecast for Nottingham arrived just after 5pm BST, frustrating the efforts of the two teams to climb from the foot of Division One.

Yorkshire had been put into bat by Outlaws skipper Chris Read and had reached 63 for two, with the in-form Jacques Rudolph caught behind off Darren Pattinson for nine.

And although Adam Lyth hit six boundaries to reach 30 off 32 balls, he also edged behind to wicketkeeper Read off Andy Carter.

Andrew Gale was unbeaten on 23 when the players retreated.
