Northants recruit Rogers
Northamptonshire have signed opening batsman Chris Rogers from Western Australia to replace Martin Love for the 2006 season.
Sydney-born Rogers has previously had spells with East Midlands rivals Leicestershire and Derbyshire and has been brought in as an overseas player at Wantage Road by director of cricket Kepler Wessels.
Rogers, who will be 28 at the end of August, had success for Leicestershire against the touring Australians with 209 off just 274 balls in the drawn match earlier this season.
He said: “I am very excited about a full season in England, especially at a progressive club like Northamptonshire.
“There is some excellent young talent at the club and with the senior pro’s experience I am looking forward to being a part of the continuing good work that it has already achieved under Kepler.”
