Notts seal Dubai T20 success
County champions Nottinghamshire claimed another piece of silverware as they emerged victorious in the Emirates Airline T20 Cup in Dubai.
Samit Patel struck 76 not out from just 45 balls to guide Notts to their target of 142 with more than two overs to spare.
Patel clubbed six fours and six sixes in his rapid knock, while Alex Hales also chipped in with 44 after Sussex had been restricted to 141 for five on a slow wicket.
Nottinghamshire had booked their place in the final with a seven-wicket victory over MCC, who they had lost to in the recent champion county fixture.
Afghanistan international Hamid Hassan claimed a hat-trick for MCC, who made 154 for seven, but Chris Read’s side squeaked over the line when the penultimate delivery of the match, bowled by Toby Roland-Jones, was called a no-ball.
Sussex thrashed Durham by nine wickets in the other semi-final after restricting their opponents to 90 for nine, with Chris Liddle claiming 4-15.
