LV County Championship Division One leaders Nottinghamshire have bolstered their squad with the signing of former New Zealand all-rounder Andre Adams.
The 32-year-old spent the final six weeks of last season at Trent Bridge as a replacement overseas player for David Hussey, but is now classed as a Kolpak player because of his New Zealand heritage.
Adams, who played one Test and 42 one-day internationals for New Zealand, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal after stating his intention to settle in England. He has had previous spells with Essex.
He will provide cover for seamers Ryan Sidebottom and Stuart Broad, whom Notts expect to be missing for most of the season due to England commitments.
Director of cricket Mick Newell said: “With the likely absence of Ryan and Stuart on England duty for most of the summer with England and Graeme Swann’s presence in the England one-day squad, we felt that we needed to add depth to our bowling unit and Andre fits the bill perfectly.
“He is an experienced international bowler and a hard hitter as well and he made a solid contribution during the six weeks he spent with us last season.
“We searched for an English qualified player but it just wasn’t possible and with Andre looking to emigrate to the UK, we made contact and agreed a deal.
“His signing was a cricket decision and we are pleased to have signed a player with an international pedigree.”
