Powell returns home
Former ECB National Academy player Michael Powell has returned to Wales after being discharged from the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in Exeter.
The Glamorgan batsman underwent four operations in the space of three days and had a spell in intensive care.
Powell had a rib removed to ease pressure on an artery which had led to a blood clot under his collarbone but he developed internal bleeding and breathing problems.
Glamorgan chief executive Mike Fatkin said: “We’re all absolutely delighted that Mike is now back home.
“It’s been an incredibly worrying time for Mike and his family, and for everyone at Glamorgan cricket, but the news that he’s been discharged is fantastic.
“He’s obviously been through a lot and it’ll clearly be a long rehabilitation process for him, but we’re not worrying about timescales at the moment and just aim to help him in any way we can. We’re just thrilled that he’s home.”
Powell featured in the National Academy intake for the winter 2004-5.
