Durham claimed top spot in the LV County Championship as they finished off Surrey by 10 wickets at Guildford today.
Durham were left to chase 134 after Surrey slipped from their overnight 183 for three to 323 all out despite 73 from Usman Afzaal and 50 from Jon Batty.
Steve Harmison polished off the tail with a spell of three for 10 to claim four for 102 overall, before openers Mark Stoneman (60 not out) and Michael Di Venuto (57no) wrapped up an impressive win.
Somerset were just a point behind Durham after completing an emphatic 246-run success over Kent at Taunton.
The hosts needed just an extra 45 minutes to take the remaining three wickets they needed – with Kent skipper Rob Key not batting due to the birth of his child.
Steffan Jones took all three – two in successive balls and having an lbw appeal turned down on hat-trick ball – to finish with five for 52. Geraint Jones was left unbeaten on 53.
Ollie Rayner ended with five for 49 as champions Sussex wrapped up a 10-wicket win over Hampshire at Arundel.
Nic Pothas hit 44 as Hampshire just about managed to make the hosts bat again by reaching 179, but it left Sussex needing only 11 to win. Mike Yardy and Chris Nash finished the job in seven balls.
In the Second Division, Warwickshire completed a crushing innings and 56-run win over Middlesex at Uxbridge.
Chris Woakes took a career-best five for 37 as the hosts were bundled out for 167 today, Murali Kartik top-scoring with 44.
Derbyshire and Northamptonshire settled for a draw after the hosts narrowly avoided the follow-on at Wantage Road.
Jon Clare added two wickets to finish with seven for 74 as Northants were bowled out for 341 in their first innings – but a last wicket-stand of 24 between David Wigley and Jason Brown meant they averted having to bat again by six runs.
Derbyshire then opted for batting practice with Chris Rogers (117) hitting his second first-class century of the season and Dan Birch (77) and Wavell Hinds (64) also in the runs.
Worcestershire were closing in on victory after three days at New Road as they forced Glamorgan to follow on for the fourth time in five matches.
Debutant Imran Arif, plucked from the Bradford League, took two more to finish with five for 50 as Glamorgan were bowled out for 279 in reply to 457.
He then took two more and Kabir Ali claimed four for 32 as the Welsh side slipped to 189 for seven in their second innings, a lead of just 11.
