Leg-spinner Ian Salisbury has signed a new one-year contract at Surrey.
The 36-year-old, who played 15 Tests for England, was Surrey’s leading wicket-taker in the Liverpool Victoria County Championship this season.
He took 59 wickets at an average of 28 to help secure the Second Division title, and was granted a benefit year in 2007, what will be his 11th season with the club.
Salisbury said: “This year was extremely satisfying for me.
“We got promoted back to the First Division and it was nice to be back in the wickets again after spending much of 2004 and 2005 on the sidelines through injury.
“I’m excited about next year already and hope that we’ll be able to continue on with our good run of form and really give the title a good shake.”
Surrey cricket manager Alan Butcher added: “Ian has been an excellent servant to the club since he joined us in 1997.
“His form this year has been exceptional and due reward for his hard work throughout last winter.
“I look forward to him playing an equally important role for us next year in attempting to win the championship.”
