Sussex cross the water to Guernsey
Sussex will aid Guernsey in their preparation for May’s ICC World Cricket League tournament with two one-day friendlies on the island.
The county’s Second XI and Academy travel to Guernsey today, as part of Sussex’s continuing links with the Channel Island.
Andy Cornford, one of Sussex’s coaches, has been in Guernsey coaching their first team and youth squads and will be in charge for Sussex’s visit.
Star Sussex batsman Murray Goodwin also travelled to the island in March.
Keith Greenfield, Sussex cricket performance manager, said: “Continuing on from many initiatives, Guernsey required some competitive friendlies to help with their ICC World Cricket League preparations.
“We’re very pleased to be able to help on this front. It’s also a good opportunity to assess their wickets and grounds for any future initiatives the club wants to develop with Guernsey.
“It will provide the players travelling with some valuable game-time.”
Sussex touring party: Matthew Machan, James Beeny, Michael Gould, Ben Brown (wkt), Michael Thornely, Tom Smith (captain), Devon Endersby, Owain Jones, Darryl Rebbetts, Matthew Wood, Lewis Hatchett, Jack Parsons.
