Warwickshire hope to hand a trial to Northwich Victoria striker Keith Barker.
Barker, 21, is the godson of former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd, and has impressed as an all-rounder with Enfield in the Lancashire League.
He was recommended to the county by former Lancashire and England batsman David Lloyd, whose son Graham plays for Enfield.
Barker hopes to feature in Warwickshire second XI’s three-day game with Lancashire, which was due to get under way at Edgbaston today but was scuppered by rain.
He has had spells with Blackburn Rovers and Rochdale after choosing to a pursue football ahead of a possible career as a cricketer with Lancashire.
Barker made appearances for England football at under-18 and under-19 level.
His father, Keith Henderson Barker, who died in March, was a fast bowling all-rounder for British Guiana before settling in England.
In his first-class career, Keith senior played alongside West Indies Test players Rohan Kanhai, Clyde Walcott, Lance Gibbs, Basil Butcher and Joe Solomon.
