Kent clinch Second XI crown
Kent have been crowned winners of the Second XI Championship 2005 following their victory against Essex at Canterbury.
Kent clinched the title in style with a comprehensive victory by an innings and 23 runs which secured them an unassailable lead at the top of the table with two games still to go.
The home side amassed 467 in their innings and dismissed Essex for 243 and then 201.
Martin Saggers took nine wickets in the match and Robert Ferley hit an unbeaten 130 to earn Kent their third win in four games.
