Mahmood back in action
Sajid Mahmood made his long-awaited return from injury as Lancashire beat Leicestershire in the Second XI Trophy.
The England pace bowler, who has been sidelined since early June following a double hernia operation, took a wicket with his first ball en route to figures of 3-16 off eight overs in a 58-run win at Hinckley.
Although Mahmood suffered no ill effects on his comeback, he will be rested for Saturday’s rescheduled Trophy match against Durham at Middleton.
Mahmood may have hogged the headlines, but Stephen Parry starred with bat and ball against Leicestershire, hitting 68 not out in a total of 233 before taking 4-39 as the hosts were bowled out for 175.
