Surrey snap up Cheetham
Surrey have swooped to secure Lancashire bowler Steven Cheetham’s services on loan until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old pace bowler, who signed his first professional contract last year, has found first-team opportunities few and far between at Old Trafford since making his debut in 2007.
Surrey professional cricket manager Chris Adams is delighted to have signed Cheetham, especially given Andre Nel’s injury.
“Steven is a young bowler with terrific physical attributes, who bowls wicket to wicket and is very much at the start of his career,” he said.
“Due to one or two injuries we need some seam bowling cover for the end of the season and this loan represents a big opportunity for him to enhance his first-class experience.”
Cheetham goes straight into the squad for tonight’s Clydesdale Bank 40 clash with Glamorgan Dragons at the Brit Insurance Oval.
