Tait takes up MCC opportunity

Australian paceman Shaun Tait has been added to the MCC squad for this month’s Emirates Airline Twenty20 Trophy in Dubai.

The 29-year-old joins India duo Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid in the MCC side, led by Mark Ramprakash, as they face Lancashire, Durham, Sussex and a Fly Emirates XI in the T20 tournament, which starts on March 23.

Four days later, the MCC travel to Abu Dhabi to face the county champions in the first-class season curtain-raiser.

MCC’s head of cricket John Stephenson said: “Shaun is a great addition to the squad.

“He will be one of the fastest bowlers ever to play for the club and I’m confident that a team featuring Dravid, Ganguly and Ramprakash, with an attack lead by Tait and Rana Naved will get this Champion County tour off to a successful start for MCC.”
