England and Somerset batsman Marcus Trescothick, who had an operation to repair a tendon and also to remove a bone spur from the fifth metatarsal of his left foot, is on course for a full recovery.
He is making good progress and hopes to be back in full training in the foreseeable future after playing a vital role in helping Somerset gain a double promotion last season with 1315 runs at an average of more than 62, including four centuries.
Trescothick told Somerset CCC: "My rehabilitation is going really well and three weeks after having my operation I am back to 80% of my normal training routine.
"I can't do the impact stuff again yet, but I can certainly do more than enough to keep myself fit."
Trescothick may not be ready to play cricket, but he is fit enough to play golf and hopes to play his first game since undergoing surgery early on this coming week.
Trescothick has been awarded a benefit by Somerset in 2008.
