Michael Vaughan is the centre of attention at Headingley Carnegie as news of his impending retirement spreads
Durham leapfrogged Leicestershire to seal second spot in the Twenty20 Cup North Division and a place in next month’s quarter-finals following a six-wicket victory at Grace Road.
The visitors won with 22 balls to spare and will now travel to Kent in the last eight after Australia one-day batsman David Warner provided the pyrotechnics, smacking 44 off 18 deliveries, including five fours and three sixes.
Leicestershire captain Boeta Dippenaar led by example with 63, but his side’s tally of 133 for eight proved insufficient for victory.
However, they had the consolation of finishing third in the group to ensure qualification for the top division of next summer’s lucrative P20 competition.
Hampshire will travel to Northamptonshire for their last-eight clash after winning their South Division encounter with Essex by six wickets at Chelmsford.
Michael Carberry and Sean Ervine both managed 39 as the Hawks eclipsed the Essex total of 149 for six.
Graham Napier struck 47 off 33 balls for the hosts but man-of-the-match Ervine starred with the ball for Hampshire, taking 3-26.
Warwickshire took second spot in the Midlands/Wales/West Division with a one-run triumph over Somerset at Edgbaston.
Jim Troughton (62) and Rikki Clarke (51 not out) steered the Bears to 193 for six and the Sabres came up just short as New Zealand international Jeetan Patel claimed 3-23.

Steven Croft and VVS Laxman embrace after steering Lancashire to a nine-wicket win over Nottinghamshire
A home quarter-final against Warwickshire is Sussex’s reward for securing second spot in the South Division courtesy of a six-wicket win over Middlesex at Lord’s. Ed Joyce’s 41 off 33 balls did the job for the Sharks.
Somerset still made it into the knockout stages as one of the two best third-placed sides, along with Hampshire.
Yorkshire, whose match against Derbyshire at Headingley Carnegie was overshadowed by reports of Michael Vaughan’s impending retirement, missed out on the top division of next season's inaugural P20 following a 37-run defeat.
The hosts managed 127 in response to Derbyshire’s 164 for five, with Jake Needham taking 4-21 for the visitors.
Kent ensured top spot in the South Division with a 16-run win over Surrey at Beckenham as Martin van Jaarsveld contributed 64 off 40 balls, with 11 fours.
Lancashire, whose lead at the top of the North Division was unassailable going into the last round of group matches, underlined their supremacy with a nine-wicket mauling of Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge to set up a home quarter-final against Somerset.
Steven Croft struck a splendid unbeaten 83 off 47 balls, while India batsman VVS Laxman chipped in with 78 not out off 53 deliveries.
Worcestershire ended the day as they started it, fourth in the Midlands/Wales/West Division, following a seven-wicket defeat to pool leaders Northamptonshire, who were indebted to an unbeaten 61 from former Worcestershire batsman Stephen Peters at Wantage Road.
The basement clash in the Midlands/Wales/West Division ended with Glamorgan claiming only their second win in this season’s competition as they beat Gloucestershire by six wickets at Bristol. Ben Wright top-scored with 55.
