Vaas rules out county return
Sri Lanka paceman Chaminda Vaas doubts he will play English county cricket again.
Vaas, who has played for Hampshire and Worcestershire, admitted that the demands of English cricket were taking a toll on him.
Vaas, named man of the series after Sri Lanka wrapped up a 2-0 win over the West Indies, said: “I am not sure whether I will play county cricket the next year or again as it is my concern for Sri Lanka cricket.
“I want to play more for Sri Lanka. I would love to play for my country as long as I can so I will stick to what I can do.”
However, Vaas believes budding Sri Lankan stars should try their luck in England.
He said: “I think county cricket is very good for a batsman to play, you can get a lot of opportunities and also learn a lot of things.
“County (cricket) is good for players like Kumar Sangakkara, Marvan Atapattu and Mahela Jayawardene. But for a fast bowler it is not an easy job and I reckon a stint of two to three months is OK with the rest.“
