Warwickshire have been thwarted in their attempt to re-sign former South Africa all-rounder Shaun Pollock.
The county were keen to recruit the 34-year-old as a Kolpak player following his retirement from international cricket last month.
Pollock, who enjoyed successful spells with Warwickshire in 1996 and 2002, discussed a return to Edgbaston with director of cricket Ashley Giles, but his unwillingness to commit to the majority of the season scuppered a possible deal.
“It is disappointing but Polly has decided that he does not want to play as much cricket as we would like him to so he won't be coming back to the Bears,” Giles said.
“I think Polly was only interested in playing in the Twenty20 Cup, which didn't really fit into our plans.
“After all, he has been playing for a long time and I can understand why he wanted to limit his cricket. We wish him all the best in what he decides to do next.”
