Yardy signs new contract
England all-rounder Michael Yardy has signed a new contract with Sussex which will take him through to the end of the 2009 season.
Yardy helped Sussex win the Liverpool Victoria County Championship in 2006 and is currently with England competing in the ICC Champions Trophy afterwards he will then spend time at the ECB National Academy in Perth.
He is one of 14 players on stand-by as cover for the Ashes series against Australia.
Sussex team manager Mark Robinson said: "Michael is a product of everything that is good in Sussex cricket.
"He is an excellent example of the rewards that can be gained from hard work and dedication.
"Michael played first team cricket, was left out, went into the second team, and decided he was going to move his game to a different level.
"He has a brilliant ability to use setbacks as a positive learning experience."
