Lancashire will aim to take a big step towards qualification for the Clydesdale Bank 40 semi-finals when the Netherlands visit Old Trafford tomorrow.

The Red Rose currently sit second in Group A, having triumphed in six of their eight matches, and boast three games in hand on leaders Middlesex, who they can leapfrog with a win.

Simon Kerrigan can take confidence from claiming six wickets for England Lions on home soil earlier this week, while his county team-mates have enjoyed a rare week off, leaving them “fresh and hungry” according to all-rounder Steven Croft.

Daan van Bunge is back in the Dutch squad, yet Sebastiaan Braat misses out due to a broken finger.

Nottinghamshire know a victory over Group B rivals Somerset at Taunton is vital if they are to revive their hopes of sealing a last-four place.

Somerset’s injury crisis deepened today when it was revealed that Alfonso Thomas will miss their next three games due to a grade one hamstring tear.

Durham host the Welsh Dragons in the other Group B fixture, with the visitors hoping to follow up their 15-run success when the teams last met at Colwyn Bay in June.

In Group C, Kent welcome Derbyshire to Canterbury, while Yorkshire take on the Unicorns at Headingley Carnegie.

England Lions batsmen Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow will not feature for Yorkshire, who have called up young wicketkeeper Dan Hodgson in place of Gerard Brophy.

Ryan Sidebottom and Richard Pyrah are both fit again after injuries and are included in a 13-man squad.
