Rain shows Leicestershire no grace
Leicestershire's Clydesdale Bank 40 match against Essex at Grace Road was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Steady rain, which began in mid-morning, left the outfield saturated and, after a 3.30pm inspection, umpires Nigel Llong and Mark Eggleston decided there was little hope of conditions improving
It was a blow to England batsmen Alastair Cook and Ravi Bopara, who were named in the Essex side and looking for further match practice ahead of the first Investec Test against West Indies on Thursday week.
