Australia batsman Ed Cowan returns for Nottinghamshire Outlaws’ Yorkshire Bank 40 game with Worcestershire Royals at New Road to offset the loss of three England players.

Cowan has missed Notts’ two YB40 fixtures so far, both wins, due to flu but is back alongside Graeme White while James Taylor, Graeme Swann and Stuart Broad are missing.

Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell said: "If Swanny hadn't have been around then Graeme White would have been in from the start and he'll be a key part of our side from now on.

"Ed would have played in our last two matches if absolutely necessary but he has been suffering from flu and we had sufficient depth to be able to give him time to recover.

"We've made a good start in the YB40 and we have every reason to feel confident but we're mindful that Worcestershire have pulled off a victory away at Sussex which is no easy task."

Worcestershire have a quick turnaround for the Group A match after being in LV= County Championship action today.

The same is true for Warwickshire Bears, who play Sussex Sharks at Edgbaston in tomorrow’s other Group A game on the back of a championship contest.

Mark Footitt

Left-arm seamer Mark Footitt is part of Derbyshire's squad to face Lancashire after impressing versus the New Zealanders last week

The hosts are without several stars, including England players Jonathan Trott, Ian Bell, Chris Woakes, Chris Wright and Varun Chopra. Laurie Evans, who broke a finger this week, Keith Barker, Oliver Hannon-Dalby, Chris Metters and Paul Best are also missing.

Sussex must make do without Matt Prior, who featured in yesterday’s defeat of Northants Steelbacks. Matt Machan has been recalled to their squad as a replacement.

Derbyshire Falcons have called up Mark Footitt and Alasdair Evans, who impressed against the New Zealanders, for their first YB40 match - versus Lancashire Lightning at Derby.

Richard Johnson will keep wicket in place of Tom Poynton but Tony Palladino and Mark Turner miss out due to injury. Lancashire are without James Anderson and Simon Kerrigan.

In tomorrow’s other Group B match Dewald Nel is set to play for Scotland Saltires for the first time in four years when they meet Essex Eagles at the Grange.

Essex recall Ben Foakes, Jaik Mickleburgh and Tymal Mills with Alastair Cook and Ravi Bopara absent.

Having won their first two YB40 fixtures, Glamorgan have named an unchanged squad to take on the Unicorns at the SWALEC Stadium.

In tomorrow’s other Group C contest Gloucestershire Gladiators and Middlesex Panthers have quick turnarounds from championship action before meeting at Bristol.

Will Gidman misses out through injury for Gloucestershire, while Hamish Marshall - who has a virus - will be assessed on the morning of the game. James Fuller is set to return from a broken finger.

Skipper Michael Klinger told the club's website: "Fortunately the injuries we have don't really affect our one-day team, except for Will Gidman missing out.

"Hopefully Hamish will be fit and if that proves the case our batting department will be as we want it for what is a very big game."

Middlesex are missing Eoin Morgan, Steven Finn and Toby Roland-Jones.
