Simon Jones has been named in Glamorgan’s 13-man squad to face Gloucestershire Gladiators in their Yorkshire Bank 40 clash at the SWALEC Stadium.

The paceman’s most recent appearance for the Welsh side came last August and his return will give a further boost to a side unbeaten in their first three 40-over Group C games.

James Fuller is set to be given his first opportunity to make an impact for the visitors with Will Gidman, currently struggling with an ankle problem, still absent.

Gladiators skipper Michael Klinger admits it is an important game for his side. “We need to beat Glamorgan to get a good early position in the group," he said.

“Our aim is to play high-intensity cricket with the white ball this season and we have some momentum after beating Unicorns in our last outing.”

Dimitri Mascarenhas

Hampshire Royals will be able to call upon Dimitri Mascarenhas after the experienced all-rounder returned from the IPL

Hampshire Royals have received good news ahead of their encounter with Durham Dynamos at the Ageas Bowl with Dimitri Mascarenhas returning from his Indian Premier League duties.

Mascarenhas made just one appearance for the Kings XI Punjab before returning to the UK and is now excited to be back with his Hampshire team mates.

He said: “I can’t wait to get stuck in. The boys have started the season well so we’ve just got to keep going.

“We’ve got two huge YB40 games coming up, and hopefully I can get myself into the side and make an impact.”

Mark Stoneman will lead the Dynamos following the news that one-day captain Dale Benkenstein will be made to undergo surgery on a shoulder injury.

Elsewhere in Group B, left-arm spinner Gary Keedy will come face to face with his former Lancashire Lightning colleagues for the first time since signing a two-year contract with Surrey.

The 38-year-old said: “Surrey's my cricket team now, and I want to do as well as I possibly can for them, but nobody will ever take away the fact that I played 18 years at Emirates Old Trafford, which I consider my cricketing home.

"I've got a lot of friends and supporters, and coming back will be a good moment for me. Hopefully, I can get picked and put a performance in.”

Tim Bresnan will be rested for Yorkshire Vikings’ trip to face the Unicorns while Somerset’s game against Middlesex Panthers at Taunton is the other Group C fixture.

Sussex Sharks, meanwhile, head to Schiedam to take on Netherlands in Group A on Monday.
