The England and Wales Cricket Board has begun helping the international cricket community's relief efforts by pledging £20,000 to the Asia Disaster Relief Fund.
The ECB followed the initiative taken by the England team and the Professional Cricketers' Association, who pledged a similar amount to the fund earlier this week, as the cricket world attempts to help victims of the tsunami disaster.
"The ECB will make an initial donation to the ICC relief fund and will continue discussions with the ICC and other international boards over the next few days to determine how the international cricket community can best assist in the relief effort," confirmed a statement.
Further fund-raising efforts will be made during the third Test against South Africa, which begins at Newlands on Sunday, when the shirt worn by captain Michael Vaughan during the opening Test at Port Elizabeth will be auctioned.
