Bangladesh too strong for Ireland

Bangladesh lifted the Under-19 World Cup Plate Championship with a 195-run demolition of Ireland at McLean Park in Napier.
Ireland won the toss and fielded, but were left ruing that decision as the Tigers racked up 307 for eight, Mominul Haque scoring 81 and captain Mahmudul Hasan 52.
Surprisingly given their phalanx of spinners, so successful against England before Christmas, it was Alauddin Babu and Kamrul Islam Rabbi, both seamers, who shared six wickets between them as Ireland were bundled out for 112.
In the other match today, at Napier's Nelson Park, Canada sneaked a two-wicket win over Papua New Guinea to claim 11th spot overall.
The third place play-off between Sri Lanka and West Indies takes place in Christchurch tomorrow, before Australia and Pakistan meet in the showpiece final the following day.
