England Under-19s’ miserable tour of Bangladesh continued as they lost the fourth one-day international in Fatullah - and with it the series.

Their Bangladesh counterparts cruised to a four-wicket victory with 15.4 overs to spare to open up an unassailable 4-0 lead in the seven-match campaign, and left England waiting for a first competitive win.

The tourists looked unlikely to end their losing streak from the moment they were bowled out for 151 at the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium, thanks largely to slow left-armer Shaker Ahmed’s 3-26.

There were two wickets apiece for Abul Hasan and Saikat Ali, while Joe Root and Danny Briggs were the only batsmen to offer anything resembling sustained resistance, with 54 and 41 respectively.

Although England recovered from the depths of two for two, and 72 for six - courtesy of Root and Briggs’ 83-run stand for the seventh wicket - Bangladesh made short work of their target.

Saikat hit a rapid 46 at he top of the order to complement his haul of 2-17, and Tasamul Haque followed up his 66 in the previous match with an unbeaten 50.

Matthew Dunn struck twice early on and Briggs returned admirable figures of 10-4-14-2, but Tasamul made light of the loss of two wickets with the winning post in sight to steer Bangladesh home with considerable ease.

"What I try to do is adapt my game to the very different conditions over here," said Briggs.

"With my batting I try to keep it simple and play the shots I know I am capable of, and in one-day games all I try to do with the ball is bowl dots and maidens.”

The fifth match of the series takes place at the same venue on Saturday.
