Opening batsman Daniel Bell-Drummond is confident England Under-19s can post "a big score" against Bangladesh at Chittagong

Daniel Bell-Drummond is thoroughly aware England Under-19s need to make full use of their 50 overs against Bangladesh tomorrow.

The young lions head into the second one-day international at Chittagong on the back of two defeats, a 10-wicket setback in last week’s warm-up match and a 44-run loss in the first match of seven yesterday.

On both occasions England have failed to see out their full allocation and Kent’s Bell-Drummond has revealed it is something the team are keen to address.

“That’s a big thing we have been speaking about and we are getting there,” he told ecb.co.uk.

“As long as we get used to the pitches, I think we will be alright. We can bat the full 50 (overs) and if we bat first, I think we can post a big score.”

Although England are still looking for their first victory of the tour, Bell-Drummond believes they are more confident after familiarising themselves with the sub-continent conditions and their opponents.

“We are definitely getting there, we are looking forward to the next match to try and beat the Bangladeshis,” he said.

“We know more what they are about and our bowlers have plans for their batsmen now. We are pretty confident that we can pull through and take the series to 1-1.”

Opening batsman Bell-Drummond, who hit a half-century in the opening match of the series, is pleased with his form, but is still striving to improve.

Speaking about his 55 from 79 balls yesterday, he said: “At times it was quite hard, but I pulled through it and it gave me confidence that we can win the series.

“I was quite disappointed when I got out. My role for the upcoming games is to bat through the overs and get three figures on the board for my team.”
