Day one of U19 Test washed out

No play was possible on the opening day of the Under-19 Test at Willowmoore Park in Benoni

The first day of the Under-19 Test between South Africa and England at Willowmoore Park, Benoni, has been abandoned due to a waterlogged outfield.

A week of heavy rain in the South African province of Gauteng meant no play was possible on the first day of four in the one-off Test.

Umpires Zed Ndamane and Brad White called the day off at 9.45am local time in the last game of England’s month-long tour.

When the Test begins, the tourists will seek to avenge a 3-2 defeat in the one-day series and a 2-0 loss in the Twenty20 games.
